Insider secret hideaway in the winter sun, Tigmi Tagadert, a new eight-suite retreat 20km from Marrakech, is such good value you can afford to take the whole hotel, with seven staff, including two cooks. Created from several pale terracotta houses on the edge of a Berber hamlet, Tigmi Tagadert is wonderfully private, with shady courtyards and patios, carved eucalyptus ceilings, and silk throws and exotic cushions in lush colours. (Morocco is the land of the Exotic Cushion). There’s yoga on the roof terrace overlooking the snowcapped Atlas mountains and a pretty river. Service is friendly and sweet, rather than slick.
