Storm in a D Cup - Photo Shoot

Tigmi Hotel and Storm in a D-Cup

It is little wonder that Storm in a D cup chose Tigmi for our photo shoot this year. Voted best small hotel in the world in 2007 by GQ, it has been on our location wish list for some time, however, when we saw it featured recently in Grove magazine we knew it would provide the perfect backdrop to our Glamazon Collection.

The Resident Magazine - TOP 5 Spas in Stunning Settings - If we could be sustained on views alone, these spectacular offerings would keep us going all year round. Escapism at its very best by Lydia Williams - March 2009

Tigmi hotel in GroveThe hotel: Described as "a small hotel made of mud and imagination" and voted best small hotel in the world in 2007 by /GQ/; we're obviously not the first to have fallen for this little gem’s charms, but boy did we fall hard.

Tigmi is not for those in search of pristine perfection, but search for soul and you will find it in abundance. The boutique, 21-roomed hotel will leave its mark on you, its elevated vantage point, nestled in the berber hamlet of Douar Tagadert, 24km outside Marrakech, will keep your mind arrested throughout your stay (we lost hours simply staring at the view), whilst letting your bodily self slip into total repose. With two pools, countless gardens, roof terraces and courtyards, around every corner is a quiet corner for contemplation, a good book or an afternoon snooze. The simple organic tones of the mud walls are brought to life by the abundance of tapestries and soft furnishings, all created by the in-house weaver in vibrant tones of fushia, emerald and saffron......

Harper's Bazaar - The Top 12 ETHICAL HIDEAWAYS - From Tanzanian desert-island chic to hebridean rustic comfort, /Bazaar/ rounds up a dozen fabulous destinations designed with the best intentions in mind - May 2009 Article

Tigmi Hotel in Harpers Only 15 miles from the mayhem of Marrakesh, secluded Tigmi, on the brow of a hill by a berber hamlet, is a blissed-out haven that mixes style with substance and features a new spa and hamman, both of which use chemical-free ingredients sourced nearby. Overlooked by the snow-capped Atlas Mountains, with a view of an ancient kasbah, it is a place to forget the outside world. The house was built in 1840; following a sensitive 2006 restoration by local artisans, using original materials and building methods, it reopened as a hotel of 22 large rooms. It heats water from its own well using solar panels, an staff are recruited locally. Food comes in banquet-like proportions.

The Grove Magazine - BOLTHOLE -- In the land of jagged mountains and market hagglers, we find the most peaceful corner in the world, by Natasha Paulini in May 2009

Tigmi hotel in Grove Relax: Sun-worshippers can lounge-hop between two terraced pools, one quiet and shaded by orange trees; the other offering views of both olive-tree dotted plains and snow-capped peaks. Tigmi also boasts a new spa, with all the usual body-beautiful suspects on offer, but make time for a hammam. Strip down to just bikini bottoms in the heated tiled room and let Karima lather you up with black soft soap before scouring away with a glove and bathing you in a warm pool. It is relaxing, in an abrasive sort of way, but rest assured you will never feel so clean or smooth in your life......

Ralph Lauren Magazine - Modern Morocco By Julia Kelly Feb 2009

Tigmi hotel in Ralph Lauren magazine A fifteen minute drive into the foothills of the High Atlas Mountains and you're transported hundred of years back upon entering the Berber town of Tagadert. On the edge of this village is the hotel Tigmi. The building's foundation was built in 1840 and, since then, local artisans have renovated the space into this private and quietly luxurious retreat. You'll have satelitte television and iPod stations at your fingertips, but at a glance out the window reveals local shepherds and their flocks alongside curious children eager for a friendly wave. Press*Beat the Retreat *Tigmi, 24 Kilometres outside Marrakech, is one of those idyllic washed-pink rambling Moroccan places that feels like you've travelled to the last outpost on earth (with all the luxeries, of course). Once a Berber dignitary's domain, it was converted from a string of village houses, terraces, gardens and quiet shady courtyards.
Set on a plain, between the city and the snowy peaks of the High Atlas mountains, at Tigmi you can spend the lazy days undisturbed, watching shepherds wander across the plain, or at the hammam with massage and gommage treatments. Pack your books, suncream, and yoga mat. Room rates for two sharing including breakfast and dinner, from €155; www.tigmi.com

Insider secret hideaway in the winter sun, Tigmi Tagadert, a new eight-suite retreat 20km from Marrakech, is such good value you can afford to take the whole hotel, with seven staff, including two cooks. Created from several pale terracotta houses on the edge of a Berber hamlet, Tigmi Tagadert is wonderfully private, with shady courtyards and patios, carved eucalyptus ceilings, and silk throws and exotic cushions in lush colours. (Morocco is the land of the Exotic Cushion). There's yoga on the roof terrace overlooking the snowcapped Atlas mountains and a pretty river. Service is friendly and sweet, rather than slick.

The Independent

Things To Do...you swim, and eat, chat, drink wine, crash out, wake refreshed in the cool afternoon breeze, read your Ian Rankin, and repeat all these gruelling activities until the fear that you may soon expire from sloth persuades you to explore the region.
This cheek-by-jowl combination of the most fundamental, breadline village existence and the most hedonistic luxury is a little unsettling. Nursing a cocktail by the wall overlooking the fading sunlight on the village can make you feel under siege from the uncomprehending eyes of the locals, who must wonder what, in God's name, fat-cat tourists are doing in their village. But in the brief week we were there, it felt like a bracing adventure in stripped-down living. plunging into the madness of souk and shopping mall, then retreating from it, to the quietest, simplest hours of passing the time, in a [hotel] made simply of mud and imagination.

The Times

Tigmi is a fusion of several warren-like Berber houses situated on the edge of an isolated (no phone lines) sleepy village, around 15 miles from downtown Marrakech. It is beautifully decorated in riad style (you'll have seen it in any number of ethnic-chic magazine shoots), with white curved walls and eucalyptus ceilings, vivid fabrics and Moroccan antiques. Room five scores because it has one of the best glad-to-be-alive views in Morocco . over to the snow-tipped Atlas mountains. Yet should you tire of torpor, the carnival madness of Marrakech's medina is only a short drive away. There is a large pool that is heated in winter and a hammam for massage and gommage (exfoliation with exotic ingredients) treatments.

The Guardian

On the fringe of Tagadert, Tigmi was formerly several labyrinthine village dwellings that have been knocked through into a modern, colourful rustic retreat. Made from local materials, a series of stylish and verdant courtyards, alcoves, walkways and terraces provide shade from the desert heat. The pink exteriors lead through traditional Moroccan arched doorways to very sexy, souk-style bedrooms with low-slung orange and saffron covered day beds, floor cushions and white stone bathrooms. Outside, surrounding a walled pool on huge rampart-like roof terraces, you can see the snow-capped Atlas mountains. The property has a tiny gym, a traditional hammam and offers basic pampering beauty treatments and muscle extending massages. But if you want to stretch your own legs, you can hire bicycles or visit a nearby lake. Popular as a week-long chill-out with affluent younger travellers, your only likely disturbance will be the odd cry from a passing shepherd trying to rally his flock.

Conde Nast Traveller - Go Shout it from the Rooftops

Tigmi a rural retreat in the Berber village of Tagadert , 15 miles out of Marrakech. Design wise rustic minamiilism is the order of the day. Ambience wise it is a heavenly hideaway.

Marie Claire - Hide and Chic

Tigmi, a small, remote hotel, 15 miles from the city. Located beside the Berber village of Tagadert, with fantastic views of the high atlas mountains. At every turn there is a small quiet alcove where you can sit and read in peace , and the only sounds you'll hear are local children playing and call to prayer. Staying at Tigmi smuggles you into the authentic life of Morocco, while still having an indulgent and relaxing time.

Glamour - Souk it Up

..When the hustle and bustle of Marrakech got too much, we headed for the peaceful retreat of Tigmi. Just 15 miles from the city, but a world apart in peace and tranquility, it provided the ultimate escape for the weary GLAMOUR crew. The Moroccan food is brought to you when you wish, the snow-capped peaks of the Atlas Mountains can be seen from the luxury of a heated pool, set alongside springs and olive groves. The interiors are soft and muted and corridors are open to the skies...

I have to say that the best way to experience Morocco in its fullness is to stay at Tigmi. The food was cooked to perfection every Breakfast, Lunch and Supper,.. Annoymous Nov - 2008

Westy and I had such a brilliant time, our room was perfect and everyone was so friendly and helpful. We loved it and can't wait to return. Nov - 2008

We thoroughly enjoyed being a reasonable way out of Marrakech. There was a feeling of being among the real people of Morocco and a walk to the nearby Kasbah was a fascinating experience. The locals seem friendly and the children ever-optimistic with their 'Bonjour - dinars?' One can only feel affection for Tigmi itself. It is full of delightful architectural nooks and crannies. Its florid courtyards offer peaceful shady retreats and the views from its terraces keep you gazing out across the hills and villages, listening for distant sounds like the shout of a shepherd or a grumbling donkey. The staff at Tigmi, smilingly unhurried but thoroughly obliging add to the general sense of douceur which pervades the place. We also found the food simple but excellent. Oct - 2008
