Tigmi hosts Summer Exhibition with Artist Sally Miles

Historically a much-favoured destination for artists, Morocco inspired British artist Sally Miles to paint a series of landscape and traditional scenes to be exhibited at Tigmi over the summer.

Having travelled to Morocco many times over the past 25 years, Sally's love of the country is very evident in these paintings. Her use of subtle ochres and siennas interspersed with vivid colour convey the wildness of the Berber countryside. From Mosques in Chefchaouen to the Oumesnat Ameln Valley and the Atlas Mountains, and winding alleyways of the medina, Sally's discerning eye draws on the adventurous spirit and atmosphere of this crossroads to Africa and the East.

Expertly capturing the movement of Arab horses and sporting birds Sally injects feeling and life into both her landscapes and townscapes. The magical quality in her treatment of trees and natural scenery, sit happily aside mysterious street scenes and pictures of traditional buildings.

Sally studied at the Camberwell School of Art in London. Her work has been extensively exhibited in England and Internationally, with an impressive list of private commissions; The Royal Box Windsor Great Park, The Dorchester London, The Ritz Club London, The Savoy Hotel London, The Grande Hotel Vienna and Jerudong Palace for the Sultan of Brunei.

The hotel Tigmi is the perfect venue for Sally's Moroccan paintings and is delighted to present Sally Miles' work at their first Summer Exhibition. 7th June - 31st October 2009 (private view on the 6th).
